Quite possibly my favorite item for a masculine medieval look is a well fitting doublet. By breaking up the monotone of your tunic, you're not only adding interest to your look, but the vest instantly adds a classy or roguish charm. Throughout the medieval era, doublets and vests remained popular fashion choices. The entire reason why doublets and vests remained so popular was their simplicity. They layer easily and add a piece of interest to your outfit.
Doublets are made in a strong cotton canvas shell and lining, have adjustable lacing at the sides to give several extra inches of fit, and clasp in the front with three leather and pewter clasps. The neck has a standing collar (can be folded down) or hood and the bottom is ringed with 8 tabs that flare out comfortably as you bend, run, or fight.
All inside seams have been serged and all outside edges are fully hemmed for durability and neatness. The fabric is canvas, and meant to stand up to taking a beating, so this jacket is going to be a loved part of your garb for years to come. Doublet will be lined in black unless you prefer another color.
